Zahra Gawani, a Swedish-Afghanistani Teacher, Won the Best Teacher Award in Sweden for 2023

According to reports Mohajir Times, citing an interview conducted by Radio Sweden's Persian-Dari section with Ms. Gawani, she was born to Afghanistani parents in city of Mashhad, Iran, and migrated to Sweden with her family at the age of eight. She is currently a teacher of English and Spanish in Sweden.
Zahra has the ability to receive the Best Teacher of the Year 2023 award in Sweden. According to Ms. Gawani herself, this success has been achieved through day and night efforts in the pursuit of knowledge and teaching. Zahra states that she has a great passion for the English language.
Therefore, Zahra believes that equal rights are based on language learning in Sweden, and there is no difference between immigrants and non-immigrants. Ms. Gawani encourages refugee residents in Sweden to engage in education and language learning to take advantage of opportunities.
Nevertheless, she says, “People should not think it's too late and say, 'I'm now 40 or 50 years old, and it's too late.' In Sweden, they say, 'When you turn 40, that's when life really begins.” Zahra also expresses regret in an interview with VOA Dari about the situation of women and the ban on education against women in Afghanistan.
