According to the Mohajir Times; the 13th book conference was held on January 5, 2024, about the book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson with the presentation of Ms. Zahra Khavari. This book-reading and cultural program, which is held regularly every other week, especially on Fridays, by the name of “Kandukaw Club” (Curiosity Club) is mainly held with the presence of Afghanistani refugees and different social classes in Golshahr of the Mashhad.
Fatema Sadeqi and Ahmad Yousefi, organizers of this cultural and book-reading program, stated to Mohajir Times: “Kandukaw Club or Curious Club is a program that has started with book gatherings and readings at a bookstore named in Golshahr publishing, Mashhad. In these gatherings, which usually take place once a week, especially on Fridays, individuals voluntarily participate to introduce a book they have read and provide explanations about the book to the attendees and the audience.”
In these cultural and book-centric meetings, due to its “Getting Together and Periodicity”, conversations about the book in question and its topics are formed, and this process causes thinking and conversations about the chapters of the book and discussed by the attendees. In continuation of these programs, various free courses on critical thinking and introduction to philosophy have also been organized by the Kandukaw Club organizers for those interested. Also, today Friday was the 13th meeting of Kandukaw Club's programs, which ended with the presentation of Ms. Khavari's speech about the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.
The organizers of this program added: “Continuing forward, various other courses on broader subjects that are beneficial for the general public will also be organized. In summary, among the most important goals of the Kandukaw Club programs is to create a platform for all segments, especially the refugee's community, for dialogue and the transfer of scientific, cultural, and philosophical knowledge, to ensure that this program contributes to the sustainability of the cultural awareness cycle, book culture, and critical thinking.”
Golshahr of the Mashhad, is one of the areas in the city of Mashhad, Iran, where residents are primarily Afghanistani immigrants and refugees. Therefore, Afghanistani immigrants and refugees residing in Golshahr are not unfamiliar names in cultural, artistic, social, and economic fields. Nevertheless, review of studies indicates that Afghanistan immigrants and refugees in Golshahr, compared to other cities in Iran with Afghanistani migrant's presence, are pioneers in cultural, social, artistic, and economic activities. #mohajirtimes
