Global March Against Hazara’s Genocide, But Iran Was an Exception
By Mohajir Times
According to Mohajir Times, Afghan immigrants, refugees, and citizens in several world countries except Iran, including in different cities in America, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway, Austria, Sweden, Portugal, Brazil, Indonesia, Pakistan, and India. They protested against the Genocide of Hazaras and demanded the recognition of this genocide and its end by national and international assemblies.
Forced Migrations and Usurpation of the Lands of the Hazaras
Demonstrators in this global march called for an end to the genocide of the Hazaras and the oppression of women in Afghanistan. They also issued a joint resolution saying that after the Taliban took over the country, the Hazaras in Afghanistan were removed entirely from the government, military, and nation and were marginalized. In the announcement of this resolution, it is stated that “the policy of forced migration and usurpation of Hazaras’ land, which was implemented in 1887 by Abdul Rahman Khan, has now started again, and the Taliban are usurping the properties of Hazara merchants and rich people.”
Arbitrary Arrests, Abduction of Women and Girls from Hazaras
According to the protestors who launched this global demonstration, under the new Taliban government, the Hazaras are the only population that has once again been targeted for “targeted and systematic killings in continuation of previous genocides.” In the paragraphs of this joint resolution, it is stated: “In continuation of this process and with the continuation of the long history of genocide of the Hazaras, the Taliban have now taken inhumane actions by arbitrarily arresting and abducting Hazara women and girls on the pretext of their type of hijab-clothing.”
Punishment of Criminals and Murderers
On the other hand, protesters from all over the world have asked the Security Council, the Human Rights Council, the International Criminal Court, world leaders, and human rights organizations to stand in solidarity with them while condemning the kidnapping and arrest of Hazara girls and women and the continuation of the genocide of Afghanistan Hazaras. In the declaration of this resolution, it is also stated: “We ask the United Nations, the world assemblies, and the free countries of the world to recognize the genocide of the Hazaras in Afghanistan. Therefore, we suggest that to realize this, they should form investigation teams as soon as possible and make the criminals and murderers accountable by bringing them to the table of the International Criminal Court.
Hazaras Exposed to Genocides, Atrocities and Discrimination
Thus, recently, the Office of the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Afghanistan Affairs (UNAMA) has announced that “in the last month, violence against the Hazara and Shiite communities has increased in provinces such as Kabul, Baghlan, and Herat.” Shia Hazaras have been exposed to genocides, discrimination, and unfair and inhumane injustices in their homeland, Afghanistan, for years. Hazaras of Afghanistan have been subjected to oppression, discrimination, and systematic killings in historical periods, including in the last 20 years under the government of the Republic of Afghanistan, and this process has worsened with the arrival of the Taliban group in Afghanistan.
But, Iran Was an Exception
This is while the resolution of the global demonstration against the “genocide of the Hazaras and gender apartheid in Afghanistan” was issued on Sunday, January 21, 2024, by the protesters and citizens of Afghanistan. It spread globally and spontaneously all over the world, which included the majority of the world’s countries except Iran. Even though there is a large number of Afghan immigrants in Iran, sometimes the Iranian media talk about the number of millions of Afghan immigrants in Iran.
However, Iran was an exception in this global march. The Islamic Republic of Iran was one of the exceptional countries neighboring Afghanistan, in which the protesters raised no voice for the oppression, genocide, and blood of the Afghan Shia Hazara. Even Iran’s official and unofficial newspapers and media have not paid attention to the most minor details of this justice-seeking demonstration. However, those in the know believe that Iran is trying to strengthen its shaky relations with the Taliban and never wants Tehran’s fragile relations with the Taliban to be disrupted and damaged.
