Afghanistani Migrants’ Restaurant in Tehran Closed by Police
Kabul House Café was mainly a cultural venue for gatherings of Afghan immigrant cultural and student activists, as well as Iranian cultural activists and writers in Tehran
According to Mohajir Times, citing Tasnim News Agency, Kabul House Café has been closed due to the lack of a permit and the employment of undocumented migrants. Tasnim reported on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, that “Kabul House Café” has been closed by the Public Places Police of Iran.
Based on the claims of Tehran police officials, this business unit was closed due to two significant reasons: employing undocumented nationals and lacking a business permit (trade license). These two reasons were the primary causes for sealing this business unit.
According to the information received by Tasnim, “Until August 2024, dealing with business units lacking permits was the responsibility of the relevant trade union, but recently an amendment to this law has placed the responsibility of dealing with unlicensed business places on the ‘Public Places Police’ as of August this year.”
Therefore, “According to the checking of the Public Places Police officers, this business unit lacked a permit and had to be dealt with according to the law. Based on this report, ‘Kabul House’ was sealed and closed due to the lack of a business permit and also employing undocumented migrants; it is worth mentioning that this business unit was a gathering place (stamping ground) for undocumented migrants.”
